This week, Yambone’s operations team, headed by Alastair During kitted the anti-poaching unit out with new patrol gear. This new equipment included everything that our rangers will need when patrolling out in Chipanje Chetu’s wilderness. Each ranger was given a mattress, sleeping bag, mosquito net, backpack, reusable water bottle, gum boots (steel reinforced), torches, plates, cutlery, cooking utensils and handcuffs.
The long awaited kits have been in the pipeline since the beginning of the year (as these had to be sourced from South Africa) and we are so pleased to have finally handed them over to our rangers who play an essential and direct role in conservation by protecting the project area from illegal activity, by responding to wildlife crime and by collecting vital data on endangered species and their habitats.
Working in one of the Africa’s last remaining wilderness areas, our rangers do one of the toughest jobs in the world. They work tirelessly day and night in often hostile conditions to protect wildlife on the conservation front line. The Yambone team is very grateful to its rangers for all that they do towards protecting Chipanje Chetu’s biodiversity.
With that, we wish all of our rangers a great start to this new and exciting chapter!
