The Yambone Initiative is please to announce the launch of a new education project for the communities of Chipanje Chetu. This program will be offering scholarships for primary school students to attend secondary school in Macaloge. 

The scholarship is worth MT 15,000 per child (USD 250). It includes the following:

• school tuition
• boarding school fees
• a school uniform
• a pair of school shoes
• exercise clothes
• a pair of running shoes
• an Umi Wango t-shirt
• toiletries

It also offers allowances for personal things, travel assistance for holidays so that students may return to their home village.

Children will continue to receive a scholarship if they pass and receive a favourable report from the Director of the Boarding School and teachers. Lipilichi’s Conservation Education manager Maique Issufo will provide ongoing guidance to candidates. The selection criteria is as follows:

1. The applicant must pass with a good mark in 7th grade.

2. The applicant should write a brief letter (less than one page) about her/his dreams for the future or what does she/he want to be when he grows up and why?

3. The applicant must have a record of good behaviour at the school.

4. The applicant’s parents/guardians have demonstrated interest in the child’s aspirations and give her/him permission to go to secondary school and continue her/his studies.
