Women’s Empowerment

Across Chipanje Chetu, women are leading the way in health, nutrition, and economic growth. Yambone partners with women's groups in all five communities to support this work — from community gardens to healthcare access to business development.

The Goal
Yambone works to strengthen women's health, nutrition, and economic wellbeing through collaborative community structures. Together, these efforts support women's leadership in sustainable development and their meaningful role in managing the natural resources of Chipanje Chetu.

Shaped by the Community
In 2025, the Yambone team met with women's groups throughout Chipanje Chetu to workshop the priorities that now guide the Women's Empowerment goal: Gender Equality and Participation in Decision-Making Leadership and Representation Economic Empowerment and Food Security Education and the Future of Girls Health, Nutrition, and Wellbeing Sustainability and Conservation with Women's InclusionFuture Vision and Social TransformationThese conversations ensure the program reflects what women in Chipanje Chetu have identified as their own priorities.

Project Objectives

1. Community Gardens
Collaborative community gardens improve household nutrition and generate income. At the same time, they strengthen women's leadership in sustainable horticulture, building skills that extend beyond the garden.

2. Financial Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
Women's Empowerment Groups organise and lead female-run businesses at the village level. With this structure in place, women gain the tools and networks to grow lasting, community-based enterprises.

3. Health and Wellbeing
Women across the five communities of Chipanje Chetu access basic health services and sexual and reproductive health education. As a result, maternal and infant wellbeing improves, and women build greater physical and emotional resilience.
