We are thrilled to announce that Yambone has officially received its REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) license from the Government of Moçambique! This license is part of the first-ever batch granted by the Government, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts toward conservation and community development.
With this license, Yambone is authorised to generate carbon credits in Sanga for the next 20 years. Our project will focus on the protection of the precious forests, wildlife, and communities in the Chipanje Chetu community-conservation area of Niassa. This initiative not only aims to safeguard the environment but also to promote sustainable livelihoods for the local communities who are the stewards of these lands.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the community of Chipanje Chetu for their incredible partnership, which has been instrumental in reaching this achievement. We also thank the National Directorate of Climate Change within Moçambique’s Ministry of Land and Environment for placing their trust in us, and all our stakeholders for their unwavering support.
Together, we are securing a sustainable future for the people, forests, and wildlife of Chipanje Chetu. This project is a testament to what can be achieved when communities, governments, and organisations work together towards a common goal. We look forward to the next 20 years of making a positive impact on both the environment and the lives of the people in this remarkable region.
