As the Yambone initiative and its projects grow, new collaborators and curious nature enthusiasts have ventured out to Chipanje Chetu to meet the communities and develop new programs both within the project area’s villages and wilderness as well as for eco-tourism safaris (e.g. birding). This new influx of visitors, has required that Lipilichi Wilderness expands its capacity for accommodation which with limited resources and the isolated nature of the area, is no easy feat.
Therefore, the Yambone management team is very pleased to announce that a new campsite is being built in Posto, Nova Madeira (a 15min drive away from Main Camp). The facilities will include camping grounds, pit latrines, a bucket shower and basic cooking facilities.
There will be two packages for guests to choose from. The first is a service option which will include the services of three local women to boil and bring water, cook, clean, prepare warm bucket showers, the use of a generator and some wired light bulbs. The second is a self-service option which will include the use of the facilities with no additional service (generator not included in this option).
All proceeds will go towards funding community projects and create a livelihood for the women of Nova Madeira who service the facility.
